Down the TBR Hole is a meme hosted by Lost in a Story that revolves around clearing your TBR of all those books you’re never going to read and sort through it all to know what’s actually on there.
I’m still at the beginning of my TBR so these are books I added when I was around 17 and oh my lord, my reading tastes have clearly changed a lot since then.
Here’s how it works:
– Go to your goodreads to-read shelf.
– Order on ascending date added.
– Take the first 5 (or 10 (or even more!) if you’re feeling adventurous) books. Of course, if you do this weekly, you start where you left off the last time.
– Read the synopses of the books
– Decide: keep it or should it go?
Jane Eyre by Charlotte Brontë
I have always wanted to read this book and I don’t know why I haven’t yet (cue the GoT shame chants) but this is one of those classics that I am determined to read. Verdict: staying on the list
Along for the Ride by Sarah Dessen
This is the Sarah Dessen book that has always appealed to me the most and I tried to read it when I was around 18 or 19(?) but I was in such a reading slump because I was working and going to school full time so I put it down and never got back to it. It does still really appeal to me. Verdict: staying on the list
Ophelia by Lisa M. Klein
My Shakespeare loving ass is still so down to read this. Plus I own it, so I really have no excuse. Verdict: staying on the list
The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo by Stieg Larsson
Thinking that this one has got to go. I went through a phase where I wanted to read/see it so badly but to be honest, I don’t really care anymore. Verdict: leaving the list
Wither by Lauren DeStefano
Read the synopsis and wow I need this in my life right now. Side note to the publisher: how do y’all have this listed at $17 FOR THE DAMN EBOOK? The paperback is $11. Verdict: staying on the list
Delirium by Lauren Oliver
It sounds alright and I really do like the new covers but it’s just not enough to make me want to commit to this series. Verdict: leaving the list
Before I Fall by Lauren Oliver
I really want to read this Lauren Oliver book. I usually enjoy contemporary standalones and this one sounds pretty good. Verdict: staying on the list
Born Wicked by Jessica Spotswood
Nope not my thing. Never really cared for the whole witches thing. Verdict: leaving the list
The Visibles by Sara Shepard
Also a strong nope. Didn’t even finish the synopsis before I knew this was not for me. Verdict: leaving the list
Everything We Ever Wanted by Sara Shepard
This synopsis is literally two sentences and does zero to spark any kind of interest. Verdict: leaving the list
Staying on the list: 5
Leaving the list: 5
