She believes in success. He believes in a carefree lifestyle.

Driven and work-obsessed, Samantha Callahan’s specialty is conquering a man’s world. With her next promotion within grasp, the one thing she lacks may be the very thing that gives her the edge she needs. A well-deserved vacation with her best friends may be overdue, but nothing will stand in the way of her success. Not even the gorgeous, unambitious surfer boy next door.

Beach hottie Chase Bradshaw ditched corporate America to follow his dreams of the stress-free salt life. When Sam walks onto his beach, he can practically see the uptight personality oozing from her pores. The woman desperately needs something other than work to keep her up at night. He’s just the man to coax the vixen out of her.

Lucky for her, Chase just happens to surf as well as he sizzles in the bedroom.

Review:

Dry Spell is a short and sweet contemporary romance about a woman named Samantha. She spends all her time working in a male dominated environment trying to prove that she can do it just as well as the boys. Cue the best friends who decide she needs a vacation and whisk her away to a beach house where she a townie catches her eye. The rest is pretty much history.

Sam was a cool character. I enjoyed reading about her and her struggles trying her best to get ahead. It was nice watching her go from to uptight and wound up from her job to someone more chilled and relax.

I liked Chase for the most part. His back story about the autism center and doing everything he could to make the world around him a better place for people like his sister was inspiring.

Sam’s best friends were easily my favourite part of the book. Every time Jordan made a dirty joke that totally spoke to my soul and made me laugh out loud. I’m very much looking forward to reading the book in the Sweet Escape series about her.

Mia London and Susan Sheehey are both good writers. Even though the book was short, they writing was so good it felt like I was able to fly through it.

The plot was good. Both Chase and Samantha each had their own personal issues in their work to deal with and the romance between them was cute but also incredibly steamy.

My one issue with this book was the pacing. I’ve never been a huge fan of insta-love and this was exactly that on the highest level you could possibly imagine. Blink your eyes, and Chase is in love.

Overall, Dry Spell was a decent read. It’s a super short summer read that you could read in a day by the beach. It goes by quick and it’s pretty enjoyable. I would highly recommend this as a vacation read.

About Mia:

Mia loves to write!

She’s been reading fiction for years and finally decided that the images and scenes floating around in her head needed to make it to paper.

She’s a huge fan of romance, highly optimistic, and wildly faithful to the HEA (happily ever after). She’s inspired by most anything around her. And her biggest obstacle is not having enough time to get it all down on paper (or my computer, as the case may be).

Her goal is create a fantasy you will enjoy with characters you could love.

She lives in Texas with her attentive, loving, super-model husband, and her perfectly behaved, brilliant children. Her produce never wilts, there are no weeds in her flowerbeds, and chocolate is her favorite food group.
And then she wakes up.
